ARCHITECTURE

I studied architecture at Cracow University of Technology. I have a year of experience of working in an architecture office in Cracow, preparing drawings and documentations for every stage of the project. I worked mostly on restorations and adaptations of  historic buildings in Cracow. The design process always demanded detailed studies of local zoning plans and all the law regulations concerning architectural monuments. I also did a few commisions for interior designs and prepared documentations and plans for small houses.

In the field of my studies, I am especially interested in vernacular architecture, which corresponds directly with its location, indigenous culture and climate. I believe architecture is meant to be designed for the specific area and people, not the other way around.

I create all the drawings using archicad and autocad. Renders are made in lumion and photoshop.
Below there are some projects created during my studies with description of the main concept and ideas behind them.
 

Mediateque in Limanowa

The Master Diploma Thesis

The thesis discusses new functions of modern libraries – mediatheques. There are particularly important in relation to the rapid growth of technology and digitization, which leads to chaos, lostness and lack of long-term relationships.

In the project of the Mediateque in Limanowa, the characteristic feature of the form are irregularly twisted individual levels of the building with large terraces and glazings.

Characteristic compositional axes of the surroundings were taken into consideration and influenced the shape of the building.
On the top floor there is a terrace overlooking the city. The glazed part of the terrace is covered with a wooden roof. 

The facades are finished with wooden panels, which additionally refers to the colors and finishing materials of the Limanowa Cultural Center.

Museum in Treblinka

A new museum building is connected to the existing one on a ground floor level with a glass passage. Museum lies in a former german nazi death camp and labor camp.

The main idea of ​​the project was to refer to the Star of David - a six-pointed star consisting of two triangles rotated relatively to each other. This sign is one of the symbols of Judaism. 

The main motif of the museum's design were rotated equilateral triangles. A cantilevered roof terrace, the largest of the triangles with a side of 47 m,  points towards the Treblinka extermination camp. Smaller triangle lies on top of it and makes the base of the star. On the roof there is located the contemplation section. Its roof is a triangle with the same dimensions as the base, rotated relatively to it and forming a six-pointed star from a bird's eye view.

Winery at Srebrna Góra

The Bachelor Diploma Thesis

Project of the winery in the Srebrna Góra Vineyard in Cracow. The form of the building refers to the natural landscape of the slope of the vineyard thanks to slightly inclined surfaces of the roofs and sloping „buttresses”. The structure is defined by rustical elements, natural materials and inspiration of Italian architecture.

The winery offers a wide range of functions to its users - a gastronomic section:vwine tasting and a restaurant, educational section: an exhibition promoting wine culture, a multifunctional conference room and a reading room as well as an accommodation section with six guestrooms. The building has three overground levels and an underground part which houses production halls and storage rooms.
